Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas
I was lucky enough to attend a signing for Heir of Fire so I got my edition earlier then the September release date. I have to say Sarah J Maas is one of the sweetest ladies I have had the pleasure of meeting.
I went into this book with extremely high expectations and let me tell you I was not disappointed.
Sarah J Maas has once again wrote a fantastic, compelling and heart breaking book that drags you directly back into Celaena’s world, we meet a group of fantastic new characters all of whom Maas has crafted in so much detail you feel like they have been there since book 1. I feel that in some ways Heir of Fire is the most heart breaking and hard to read of the three books due to the paths that the characters must take but the story itself is fantastic, well written and the perfect addition to this amazing series.
In Heir of Fire we learn more about Celaena’s childhood and more of her life as Aelin and the majority of her story revolves around her training with one of the new characters Fae Prince Rowan to control her Fae powers. The training scenes are full of fighting, fire, and magic. My favourite part of Celaena’s storyline with Rowan is the fact that Maas kept the relationship as a friendship and nothing more and I honestly hope it stays that way through the remainder of the series as this is such a refreshing thing to be able to have a Male & Female charater just be friends.
Celaena’s story also runs parallel to Chaol and Dorian back at the glass castle.
While Chaol’s story focuses on the introduction of Aedion Ashryver, Aedion is the perfect mix of arrogance and attitude to rub Chaol the wrong way, but we find them working together to help keep Celaena alive.
Dorian’s storyline for me was the most heart breaking in Heir of Fire, I became very attached to Dorian’s new love interest Sorscha by the end of the book and I was beyond devastated for Dorian when she was killed.
My only complaint with this book………..we had no Celaena and Chaol please Sarah J Maas please bring them back to each other in Book Four PLEASE
I cannot wait to see how Maas brings everything together in book four.
5 Stars Fantastic!
