Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts
Overall I enjoyed this book but honestly it wasn’t anything I would scream from the rooftops about, the plot is full of action, suspense, and adventure however the writing style and character development seriously let this book down.
Basically the main story revolves around an earthquake and all of a sudden during the aftermath the majority of humans left go “Crazy” and almost become possessed by rage. These humans who are later referred to as Baggers start killing anyone and everything.
The story is told from five points of views, Michael, Clementine, Aries and Mason, This for me is the biggest issue with this book, for the majority I do not like books with multiple POVS, there are a few exceptions to this rule however The Dark inside did not hit the mark. I found it hard to differentiate between the characters and their voices all sounded the same.
Then we have a mysterious perspective of the story called “Nothing” who would randomly enter the story to give you “Its” thoughts on humanity and life, for me this added nothing to the story and became very annoying.
We also didn’t find out anything in this book, nothing gets explained and I still do not know what exactly caused people to go bat crap crazy, was it the earthquake or something else altogether?
However, all of that being said I didn’t hate the book, the book was interesting enough to hold my attention and the plot itself was as mentioned above full of action. I will more than likely read the sequel however I won’t be running out to buy the next book any time soon.
